Website Design & Development

For most organizations the website is the first conversation a customer has with the business. It should sound like you and work on the phone in someone's hand.

We design and build websites from the first sketch through launch: structure, writing, design, build, testing and the DNS cutover at the end. There is no handoff to a distant production team, and nothing about the project depends on a vendor in another time zone.

Design decisions start with what the site has to accomplish. A clinic taking new patients, a manufacturer courting purchasing agents and a county office publishing notices all need different pages, different navigation and a different first screen.

What we make

  • Website wireframes on paper beside a laptop content editor
    01

    Custom design

Layouts built for your content, not a marketplace theme bent into shape around it.

  • Laptop showing a website traffic and performance dashboard
    02

    Responsive by default

Designed at phone width first, then tablet and desktop, because that is the order your visitors arrive in.

  • Brand style guide open to color and typography pages
    03

    Development

Clean, standards-based build with maintainable templates your staff can update without breaking the design.

  • Phone showing a social profile grid of branded posts
    04

    Content and copywriting

Help organizing pages and writing them, or editing what you already have into something a stranger can follow.

    E-commerce

Product catalogs, secure checkout, shipping and tax configuration, and the operational side of taking orders.

    06

    Website modernization

Rebuilds of sites stranded on an unsupported platform, keeping the URLs and content worth keeping.

  • Brand style guide open to color and typography pages
    07

    Performance

Image handling, caching and script discipline so pages load quickly on a phone with two bars.

    08

    Analytics

Measurement configured so you can see what pages people actually use before spending money changing them.

    Conversion-focused layout

Calls to action, forms and phone numbers placed where people look for them instead of only in the footer.

    Ongoing care

Platform updates, backups, certificates and content changes handled after launch rather than left to drift.

One team from concept through launch

The most expensive part of a website project is usually the second one, when a site built by someone unreachable has to be untangled. We keep the domain, DNS, hosting and design in one documented place, in your organization's name.

Because Mayer Networks runs the infrastructure side of the business, a website change that touches email records, a firewall rule or a Microsoft 365 tenant is a conversation between colleagues rather than a support ticket between vendors.

Built into every site

  • Accessible markup, headings and contrast
  • Titles, descriptions and structured data
  • HTTPS with automatic certificate renewal
  • Forms that reach a person and are logged
  • Mobile navigation tested on real devices
  • Sitemap and search engine submission

Handled at launch

  • DNS inventory before anything moves
  • MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC records verified
  • Redirects mapped from old URLs to new
  • Analytics and search console connected
  • Backups running before go-live
  • Documented ownership of domain and hosting

How the work goes

  1. 01

    Discovery

What the site must accomplish, who has to find it, and what the current one is failing at.

  2. 02

    Structure

Sitemap, page-by-page outline and the writing plan, agreed before a single layout is designed.

  3. 03

    Design

Key templates designed at mobile and desktop width, reviewed together, revised in place.

  4. 04

    Build and test

Development, content loading, forms, accessibility checks and cross-device testing.

  5. 05

    Launch

DNS cutover with email records verified first, redirects in place, analytics live the same day.

  6. 06

    Care

Updates, backups and content changes on an ongoing plan so the site does not age out.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Still have a question? Call 618-529-4922 or send us the details.

How long does a website take?

A focused small-business site is usually six to ten weeks. The schedule is driven far more by content and approvals than by design or development time.

Can you work with the site we already have?

Often, yes. We review the platform first and tell you plainly whether maintaining it is a better use of money than rebuilding.

Do we own everything?

Yes. Domain registration, DNS and site files stay in your organization's name and we document where each one lives.

Will the redesign hurt our search rankings?

It should not, if old URLs are mapped to new ones and page structure is preserved. Redirect mapping is part of every rebuild we do.
