Microsoft 365 Is Powerful. Someone Still Has to Run It Well.
Mayer Networks helps organizations across Southern Illinois deploy, administer, secure, support and continuously manage Microsoft 365. That includes email, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, licensing, identity, security, migrations, governance and day-to-day support for the users who depend on it.
Environment, not subscription
Microsoft 365 Is an Environment, Not Just a Subscription.
Most organizations buy Microsoft 365 licences and assume the rest is included. The platform may be available, but availability alone does not create a well-run environment.
Users still have to be created and removed, permissions have to be maintained, security policies have to be reviewed, licensing has to stay aligned with the organization, Teams and SharePoint need structure, and the tenant has to evolve as the business changes.
Without active administration, Microsoft 365 can drift. Old accounts stay enabled, permissions accumulate, licensing becomes inconsistent, security settings remain where they were left during the original rollout, and nobody is clearly responsible for the overall tenant.
Mayer Networks treats Microsoft 365 as part of the managed technology environment. We administer it alongside the network, endpoints, identity, cybersecurity, backup and user support so Microsoft 365 is not a separate island inside the organization.
What Microsoft provides
The platform, the applications, the service availability and the licensing framework behind it. Microsoft keeps the service running and updates it continuously.
What still has to happen
Configuration, identity, permissions, security policies, governance, licensing decisions, user administration and ongoing change. The work that turns availability into a well-run environment.
What Mayer Networks does
Takes responsibility for operating and administering that environment as part of the broader managed relationship — alongside your network, endpoints, identity, cybersecurity, backup and user support.

Once Microsoft 365 becomes part of the organization's daily operation, someone has to actively manage what is happening inside the tenant. That is where Mayer Networks takes over the day-to-day administration, security, licensing, permissions, collaboration tools and user support.
What we manage inside your tenant
Microsoft 365 is one environment made of several services. Mayer Networks administers them together rather than treating each app as a separate product.
Tenant administration
Configuration, policy and day-to-day changes across the tenant.
Exchange Online
Mailboxes, mail flow, mail authentication and shared resources.
Teams
Team and channel structure, meetings, external access and governance.
SharePoint Online
Site structure and permissions so information stays findable.
OneDrive
Per-user file storage, sync behaviour and known-folder handling.
Identity, MFA and conditional access
Accounts, sign-in policy and the conditions access is granted under.
Security configuration
Security settings and monitoring, reviewed rather than set once.
Licensing
Licence review against how people actually work, not the largest plan.
Migration & modernization
Moves from legacy email, file servers or Google Workspace, with identity, permissions and adoption planned up front.
Microsoft 365 backup
Separate protected copies of mail, SharePoint and OneDrive data.
User support
The everyday questions and problems people hit inside the apps.

Tenant administration
Somebody Has to Own the Tenant.
An unowned Microsoft 365 tenant drifts. Accounts stay active after people leave, permissions accumulate, licences stop matching the headcount and security settings sit wherever they were left during the migration. Mayer Networks administers the tenant as a managed system with a named team behind it.
- Users, groups and distribution lists
- Mailboxes, shared mailboxes and calendars
- Teams, channels and external access
- SharePoint and OneDrive permissions
- Licence assignment and plan fit
- Tenant policies and service settings
- Security configuration and review
- Admin roles held separately from daily accounts
Day-to-day support
When Microsoft 365 Has a Bad Day, People Call Us.
Support is where a managed Microsoft environment becomes real. Users do not open a ticket with Microsoft every time Outlook stops sending, Teams permissions are wrong or OneDrive will not sync. They contact Mayer Networks, where our triage and Tier 1 teams handle most everyday Microsoft 365 issues quickly, and a dedicated Cloud Team steps in when the issue needs deeper Microsoft 365 or cloud expertise.
Triage and Tier 1
The fast lane for everyday issues
Triage receives the request, confirms the impact and gets it to the right person quickly. Our Tier 1 team resolves many of the everyday Microsoft 365 issues that interrupt work — Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, access, MFA, mailboxes, user changes and similar requests — often without the client ever needing to think about Microsoft support. That covers sign-in and MFA prompts, mailbox and shared-mailbox problems, Teams meeting and membership issues, OneDrive sync, new-user onboarding, offboarding and mailbox handover, and license and group membership changes. Because the tenant is already under Mayer Networks management, our team has the administrative access and environment context needed to move quickly, and most routine issues are resolved without unnecessary escalation.
Dedicated Cloud Team
Depth when the issue is bigger than a ticket
When the issue goes beyond a routine support request, Mayer Networks has a dedicated Cloud Team focused on Microsoft 365 and cloud administration. The team handles deeper tenant administration, Exchange Online and mail flow, Entra ID and identity, licensing design, Conditional Access, Teams policies, SharePoint structure escalation stays inside Mayer Networks, so the client is not handed off to an unfamiliar third party when the problem gets more complex.

Everyday Microsoft 365 problem? Triage and Tier 1 handle it quickly. Deeper Microsoft 365 or cloud issue? A dedicated Cloud Team is behind them.
Identity and security
Microsoft 365 Is Now a Security Boundary.
Mail, files, chat and identity all sit behind one sign-in. That makes the tenant one of the most valuable targets in the organization, and one of the most important parts of the cybersecurity posture.

Multi-factor authentication
Enforced across the organization rather than left to individual users to enable.
Identity protection
Sign-in behaviour reviewed, risky and legacy authentication paths closed where the environment allows.
Conditional access
Where licensing supports it, access judged on device, location and risk instead of a password alone.
Privileged admin separation
Administrative rights kept apart from the account someone reads mail on.
Email security
Filtering and mail authentication layered over the tenant's own protections.
Tenant oversight
Configuration reviewed on an ongoing basis, not set once during onboarding.
Collaboration layer
SharePoint Is Where the Work Lives.
Teams conversations and OneDrive files both end up in SharePoint. How it is structured decides whether documents stay findable, permissions stay intentional and search returns the right answer a year from now. Mayer Networks designs and administers that structure as part of the tenant.
- Document management and version history in place of shared drives
- Departmental and project sites with permissions that match the org chart
- Intranet and internal communication people actually use
- Information structure and metadata that keeps search useful

Data protection
Availability Is Not a Backup Strategy.
Microsoft keeps the service running. It does not take responsibility for a mailbox someone emptied, a SharePoint library overwritten last quarter or files a departed employee removed before the account closed. An independent, restorable copy with retention you control is a separate piece of work, and it belongs in the same managed environment.
Protect Microsoft 365 DataWhy Mayer Networks
- Microsoft 365 managed alongside the rest of the environment rather than in isolation
- Identity security treated as the foundation
- Migration experience across mail platforms and file shares
- Responsive remote and onsite support from engineers based in Southern Illinois, not a queue in another time zone.
Security considerations
- MFA and conditional access as a baseline
- Legacy authentication disabled where possible
- Administrative accounts separated from daily-use accounts
- Backup of Microsoft 365 data
Does Microsoft 365 include backup?
No. Microsoft keeps the service running and provides limited retention, but protecting your data against deletion, corruption or malicious action over time requires a separate backup.
Which license do we need?
It depends on the security, compliance and application features required. We review actual usage and recommend licensing rather than defaulting to the largest plan.
How disruptive is a migration?
Well-planned migrations move mail and files in stages, usually with a defined cutover outside business hours and support available during the first days.
Can Microsoft 365 replace our file server?
Often yes, using SharePoint and OneDrive, but it requires planning around structure, permissions and applications that expect mapped drives.
Is Microsoft 365 secure by default?
It provides strong capability, but default settings are not a security configuration. Identity protection, conditional access and monitoring must be deliberately configured.
